ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Brenna Johnson raced to an eighth place finish Saturday to pace the Nazareth College women's track and field team at the All Atlantic Regional Indoor Track and Field Championship meet at the Golisano Training Center.
Johnson scored the only point of the day for the Golden Flyers with her eighth place finish with a time of 59.30 in the 400-meter dash. The time ranks second on the all-time Nazareth top-five list for the event and is a career-best time for Johnson.
Fellow sophomore, Erin Reyner took 11th place in the 3K race for Nazareth as she out-raced Geneseo's Ciara Knott at the finish line to finish with a 10:34.06 and just .01 ahead of the Geneseo runner. Her time is third on the all-time Nazareth list and is also a career-best finish.
A pair of finishes in the throwing cage wrapped up the Nazareth results for the day as sophomore Gabrielle Pighetti finished 14th in the shot put with an 11.47-meter throw and sophomore Grace Blankenship was 16th in the weight throw with a 14.26 distance. The throw was just .04 off her school record of 14.30 set earlier this season.
The championship meet that featured more than 50 teams from the region saw Ithaca College (98 points) win the women's team championship. Geneseo (75.5) was second followed by Brockport (66.5), The College of New Jersey (51.5) and Rowan (49) in the top five.
On the men's side, Rowan (115) ran away with the team title as Cortland (64) was second, Ithaca (53) third, Brockport (41) fourth and Geneseo (39) in fifth place.
