BROCKPORT, NY – Freshman Connor McCauslin placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles and was 13th in the 60-meter dash to lead the Nazareth College mne's track and field team at the Brockport Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Special Events Recreation Center.
McCauslin clocked an 8.92 in the preliminaries to finish second in his heat and was the fourth best time of the day in the event. Later, he raced to a 13th place finish with a 7.41 time in the 60-meter dash.
Nazareth finished as a team with 11 points and finished 13th in the team standings. Brockport won the team title with 143 points followed by Geneseo (138.5 points), RIT (89) and University of Rochester (79).
Additional top finishes for the Golden Flyers included a ninth place finish for sophomore Matthew Johnson in the 400 meters while freshman Mike Welch took 10th in the race. The duo had times of 52.76 and 52.93 respecitvely.
Johnson and Welch also teamed with freshman Calvin Garnes and sophomore Patrick Healy for a fourth place finish in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:36.45.
Johnson also added a ninth place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 12.70 meters (41' 8").
Junior Jason Hall was 13th (9:02.78) and freshman Nathan Bowers was 14th (9:03.30) in the 3K. Freshman Bryce Florian took ninth and sophomore Josh Pomerleau 15th in the pole vault as Florian cleared 4.25 meters (13' 11 ¼") and Pomerleau cleared 3.65 meters (11' 11 ¾"). Freshman Arthur DeVasto was 14th (1.71 meters – 5' 7 ¼") in the high jump, junior Christopher Celecki was 15th (2:06.19) in the 800 and sophomore Josh Tomaka was 23rd (4:46.27) in the mile.
The Golden Flyers will compete next weekend at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University and the RIT Midseason Meet in split squad competition.
