ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Alexis Anagnostopulos finished first in the 1000-meter run and a pair of freshmen – McKenzie Leahey and Sarah Merriwether – were part of the winning 4x200 relay to lead the Nazareth College track and field teams at the RIT Midseason meet in Gordon Field House.
Anagnostopulos won the 1000 with a time of 3:19.98 and the relay, that also included sophomore Madison Sabourin and junior Elizabeth Decker clocked a winning time of 1:54.28.
The 4x400 relays placed second and third with Anagnostopulos, graduate student Eileen Shea, freshman Gabrielle Larsen and junior Kelly Artini took second in 4:26.05 while the group of junior Lydia Dewart, junior Bryanna Roos, freshman Hannah Kuc and junior Abbey Szumloz were third in the race.
In addition, Leahey was third in the long jump, fourth in the triple jump while Decker was fourth in the 400 with Roos taking fifth, Dewart was fifth in the 800 and sophomore Madelone Dovi was third in the 3K.
Other top finishers included Merriwether who was seventh in the high jump, sophomore Grace Blankenberg was seventh in the shot put, sophomore Ally Criswell was 10th in both the shot put and weight throw. Sophomore Claire Bargabos was second in the mile with teammates freshman Megan Morin (6th) and Shea (9th) also finishing in the top-10.
The Nazareth women were also represented by a pair of runners at the Boston University Valentine's Day Invite. Sophomore Brenna Johnson was fourth in her section in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of :26.60 and finished 163rd overall out of 295 runners. She was also second in her section of the 400-meter race (1:00.35) and finished 117th overall out of 213 runners. Fellow sophomore Erin Reyner was 19th in her heat of the 5K race and finished 41st overall with a personal-best time of 18:41.07.
