ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Hartwick held Nazareth to just 17 points in the second half Friday as the Hawks handed the Golden Flyers their third straight women's basketball defeat, 69-51, at the Mike Daley Court at the Kidera Gymnasium.
Hartwick improved to 10-7 overall and 4-2 in conference action. Nazareth dropped to 10-6 overall and 2-3 in the Empire. The Golden Flyers also lost games last weekend at Sage and Utica.
The Hawks had three double-digit scorers, including Maggie Kirby and Guiliana Pritchard, who each finished with 20. For Nazareth
Rachel Benedict scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but was out of sync most of the game in going 0-for-4 from three-point range.
Nazareth trailed for most of the first half and was down by nine before
Kim Davis nailed a three-pointer before the halftime horn sounded to trim the intermission lead to 40-34.
The Golden Flyers' comeback hopes were erased in the second half as they were outscored 29-17 over the final 20 minutes as Hartwick gradually pulled away. The managed just seven points on 3-for-14 shooting in the fourth quarter with three of those points coming on a three-pointer by
Demetria Woodard just before the final horn sounded.
David finished with nine points and
Jadyn Abrams scored eight for the Golden Flyers, who host Elmira Saturday at 4 p.m.
