Jason Hall wins 1000 at RIT Invitational

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Jason Hall won the 1000-meter race Saturday to lead the Nazareth College men's track and field team in the non-team scoring RIT Invitational at Gordon Fieldhouse.

Hall clocked a 2:36.94 to win the event and highlight the Nazareth day.

The Golden Flyers produced three additional top-10 finishes ad sophomore Matthew Johnson was seventh in the triple jump, freshman Mike Welch was ninth in the 500 and the 4x800 relay was fifth for Nazareth.

Johnson had a 12.53-meter (41' 1 ½") leap on his final attempt to finish just ½ inch ahead of 8th place in the triple jump.

Welch finished ninth in the 500 with a time of 1:09.49. He was fourth in his heat.

The 4x800 relay that featured Johnson, freshman Calvin Garnes, sophomore Patrick Healy and Welch was fifth overall with a time of 3:36.68

The Golden Flyers will be home next weekend at the Golisano Training Center as Nazareth hosts the Conference Challenge Cup Saturday.
