GENESEO, NY – The Nazareth College men's and women's track and field teams competed Saturday at the Geneseo Invitational in the rainy and less than ideal conditions but still came away with impressive performances.
Senior Sara Thomas had the best place finish of the day for the Golden Flyers as she place third in the triple jump with a final distance of 10.42 meters (34' 2 ¼"). The senior also placed 20th in the long jump with a 4.58 meter (15' ½") leap.
Junior Maria Staehr was fifth in the 800-meter run with a 2:27.35 and teammate sophomore Deirdre Brett was 11th in the race with a time of 2:31.40.
The Nazareth throwers also had a good day as freshman Bailey Robinson finished 7th in the hammer throw (40.45 meters – 132' 8") and fellow freshman Ally Criswell was 19th. Criswell was also 13th in the javelin while freshman Gabrielle Pighetti took 17th in the shot put.
Sophomore Abbey Szumloz placed 10th in the 400-meter hurdles and freshman Brenna Johnson was 20th in the 200-meter dash.
The Nazareth men were led by junior Jervon Harrison who finished 17th in the long jump and was 26th in the 200-meter dash.
The track and field teams will compete next at the Hamilton College Invitational April 6.
