LYNCHBURG, VA – Freshman Coleton Pallatto finished fourth in the steeplechase and the 4x400 relay took fifth to lead the Nazareth College men's track and field team to a 10th place team finish in the season-opening outdoor meet at the Dr. Jack Toms Alumni Invitation at Lynchburg University.
Lynchburg was first in the team scoring with 209.5 points followed by Christopher Newport (118 points), Washington and Lee (103), Southern Virginia (67), Randolph (62), William Peace (52), Virginia-Lynchburg (40), Guilford (25), Eastern Mennonite (21.5) and Nazareth (21). The Golden Flyers finished ahead of Mary Baldwin (14) and Regent (5).
Pallato took fourth in the 3K steeplechase with a time of 10:41.08 while the relay featuring Matthew Johnson, Jack Wessel, Josh Pomerleau and Patrick Healy clocked a 3:37.92 to place fifth in the 4x400.
Johnson added a 12th place finish in the 1500-meter run and a 20th place finish in the 400-meters for Nazareth. Jason Hall took 7th and Healy was 13th in the 800-meters while Jervon Harrison was 19th in the 100-meters and 21st in the 200-meters.
William Lewis finished 13th in the 110-meter hurdles and was 15th in the 400-meter hurdles.
The Golden Flyers compete next weekend at the Geneseo Invitational on March 30.
