UTICA, N.Y. -- Alycia Eaton recorded a first-place finish in the triple jump Saturday as Nazareth's track and field team resumed their respective seasons at the Utica Invitational.
Nazareth's women's team accumulated 40 points to finish in sixth place, led by Eaton, who also placed second in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.79. She leaped 11.24 meters (36 feet, 10 1/2 inches) to win the triple jump.
Kathleen Irwin scored points by finishing fourth in the long jump with a leap of 4.94 meters (16 feet, 2 1/2 inches) and Gabrielle Pighetti finished fifth in the shot put with a heave of 11.23 meters (36 feet, 10 1/4 inches).
Nazareth's 4 x 400-meter relay team finished third with a time of 4:14.34 with the foursome of Brenna Johnson, Lydia Dewart, Abbey Szumloz and Maria Staehr. Staehr also finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.30.
Other notables included Deirdre Brett with a 10th-place finish in the 800-meter run (2:30.39); Irwin with a 10th-place in the triple jump (10.34 meters); and Hayley Cronin with a 16th-place in the mile (5:50.35).
In the men's meet,
Christopher Celecki placed 11th in the 3,000-meter run )9:21.56) and
Patrick Healy and Josh Hall ran 15th and 16th in the 800-meter run with times of 2:05.35 and 2:05.56. The foursome of Matt Johnson,
Jack Wessel,
Josh Pomerleau and Healy finished 11th in the 4 x 400-meter relay in 3:45.30.
