Brockport, NY – It was a record-setting day for
Alycia Eaton and
Nick LaBarbera on Thursday at the All-Atlantic Region meet, with both setting personal bests in their respective events. Eaton won the long jump with a school record mark of 5.77 meters (18 feet, 11 ¼ inches), while LaBarbera set personal bests in both the 400 (48.37) and 200 (21.99) meter runs.
Prior to the meet, Eaton's best long jump was 5.72 meters (18 feet, 9 ¼ inches), set at the Empire 8 Championships on May 4. The Remsen, NY native was able to hit the 5.77 meter mark on her fifth jump to claim the top spot in the event. With that jump, Eaton is now eighth among Division III competitors and is in prime position to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Division III Championships next week La Crosse, WI.
LaBarbera saved his best for last with a personal-best time of 48.37 in the 400 to earn third place – earlier in the year he recorded a 48.43. He later delivered the second-best 200 time in school history, clocking a 21.99 to earn eighth place – that mark was nearly .4 seconds better than his previous-best time.
