GENESEO, N.Y. -- Host Geneseo netted two goals off corner kicks in the second half to hand No. 24 Nazareth its first loss of the season Thursday night. Fresh off a six-goal barrage against Allegheny on Saturday, Nazareth was unable to find the back of the net in its third game of the 2017 season.
The Golden Flyers drop to 2-1 on the season, while Geneseo remains unbeaten at 3-0.
After a defensive first half, with just eight total shots, play opened up in the second.
Geneseo broke through in the 53
rd minute off a corner kick, as Jennifer Moran got a touch in at the near post and found the back of the net.
Julia Delgatti had a strong opportunity for the Golden Flyers in the 63
rd minute as blast from inside the 18-yard box was saved.
Shortly after, Geneseo was at it again, scoring off a set piece in the 71
st minute. Leah Green headed down the corner kick and Raegen Becker cleaned up the garbage with the tap-in goal.
Nazareth's best opportunity of the opening half came on a cross from Miranda Timberake that was headed by Jordan Ruston 8-yards away in the 43
rd minute.
Hannah Miller made two saves in net for the game.
Geneseo held a 10-9 advantage in shots.
The Golden Flyers face another difficult test on Saturday, traveling to St. Lawrence for a 1 p.m. contest.
