WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --
Tyler Stenglein scored 16 of his team-high 18 points in the second half Saturday and was one of five Nazareth players to score in double figures as the Golden Flyers held off Potsdam to take an 87-79 victory over the Bears in men's basketball.
The victory enabled the Golden Flyers to snap a three-game losing streak as they head to the holiday break with a 5-3 overall record. Potsdam is 1-8. The game was played as part of the Lycoming Crosstown Challenge in Pennsylvania. The Golden Flyers are off until Jan. 4 when they host Hilbert in a non-conference game at 8 p.m.

Cody Green came off the bench to score 16 points, with 11 coming in the first half. Sophomore
Jake Burgio added 15 points and six rebounds; senior
Josh Gillard had 12 points and sophomore
Brendan Wind had 11 points and seven assists. Sophomore
Chris Jones had eight points and seven rebounds.
Nazareth trailed for a good portion of the first half as the Bears used a 10-point scoring spree to take a 17-9 advantage. The lead grew to 20-11 following a three-pointer by Kevin Baksh with 12:32 left in the half. A three-pointer by
Daniel Jacob enabled Nazareth to regain the lead at 33-32, then Green added five straight points to extend the lead to 38-32. Nazareth eventually settled for a 40-37 lead at the break.
Nazareth was able to maintain its lead in the second half, but Potsdam stayed close and even took a 54-53 lead with 10 minutes to play. A three-pointer by Gillard allowed Nazareth to retake the lead for good at 56-54. Stenglein then took over for Nazareth by scoring 14 of his points over the final eight minutes before fouling out with 54 seconds left.
Nazareth stayed ahead in the closing minute by sinking free throws. Wind made four and Green and Burgio each made two to close out the Bears. Nazareth went 24-for-29 from the line overall in the game with Burgio going 11-for-11.
The Golden Flyers shot 28-for-67 (41.8 percent) for the game with seven three-point baskets. Nazareth also enjoyed a 41-28 rebounding advantage. Potsdam's Jayquan Thomas led all scorers with 33 points.
