ASTON, Pa. -- Host Neumann scored the game-winning goal with 5:38 left in the second period Friday as the Knights edged Nazareth, 4-3, in ECAC West men's hockey action. Nazareth had rallied from a 3-0 deficit to tie the score before Neumann scored the game winner.

The defeat snapped a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) for the Golden Flyers, who dropped to 11-8-4 overall and 7-3-3 in conference play. With the victory, Neumann moved within two points of the second-place Golden Flyers in the ECAC West with two regular-season games remaining. The Knights also are 11-8-4 overall and 7-5-1 in conference play. Nazareth won the first meeting, 3-2, in November. The teams meet again Saturday at 4 p.m. Division-leading Hobart defeated Manhattanville, 1-0 in overtime, Friday to take a commanding three-point lead over Nazareth in the league standings.

Neumann scored three times in the first period, including two goals that came just 47 seconds apart, to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Nazareth, however, battled back with a goal late in the first period and two more in the second to tie the score. After Neumann's Jon Low scored at 14:22 of the second to give Neumann a 4-3 lead, the teams played through a scoreless final 20 minutes. Nazareth had eight shots on goal in the third period and played the final 1:30 with a sixth skater, but the Golden Flyers couldn't net the equalizer. Nazareth also came up empty on a pair of poser play chances in the third.

Junior Tom Seravalli scored Nazareth's first goal with :39 left in the first period to put Nazareth on the scoreboard. It was Seravalli's fourth goal of the season with Marcus Moles and C.J. Murray gaining assists.

Nazareth then capitalized twice on the power play in the second period to tie the score. With Neumann's Jory Mullin in the penalty box for high sticking, Nazareth sophomore Dominik Gabaj scored his ninth goal of the season off assists from linemates Ben Blasko and Oliver Janzen at 3:56 to close within 3-2.

Less than five minutes later, Neumann's Chris Bournazos was whistled for interference and Blasko capitalized for Nazareth with his fifth goal of the season with an assist from Gabaj to tie the score at 3-3. That set the stage for Low's game-winner, which came just over five minutes after Blasko's goal.

Neumann had a 39-34 edge in shots on goal. Nazareth's Ed Zdolshek, making his ninth straight start in goal, made 35 saves. Matt Gibney had 31 saves for the Knights, who went 0-for-3 on the power play as opposed to Nazareth's 2-for-6.

Junior Ed Zdolshek was in goal for his ninth straight start for the Golden Flyers and finished with 35 saves.
