Nazareth sweeps Cazenovia, 3-0

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth opened its 2013 men's volleyball season Wednesday with a convincing three-set sweep over visiting Cazenovia. The fifth-ranked Golden Flyers won by scores of 25-5, 25-11, 25-9. The match was the first-ever for Cazenovia men's volleyball.

Nazareth banged out 41 kills against just six attacking errors in 57 attempts for a .614 hitting percentage. Utilizing a line-up of all first- and second-year players, Nazareth got a match-best 11 kills from freshman Bobby Beeman, nine from freshman Coulton Every, and seven each from freshmen Chris Mahan and Tim Zyburt. Freshman setter Chris George contributed 22 assists and sophomore Nick McDonagh had 14 assists.

Nazareth resumes play this weekend with the annual Golden Flyer Invitational. Nazareth's first match is Saturday vs. Southern Vermont at 2 p.m.
