ALFRED, NY - The Nazareth College men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their 2012-13 seasons Saturday at Alfred. The Golden Flyer women won the dual meet 174-120 while the men lost, 169-115.
Dan Burke had two first place finishes including the 100 yard backstroke (:55.45) and the 200 back (2:01.76).
Tim Rappold also finished first in two of his races, the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.47 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.08.
Jacob Kline was a first place finisher in the 100 butterfly with a time of :56.17.
Jeff Green finished first in 1-meter diving with a score of 199 and Green was also first in 3-meter diving with a score of 223.80.
On the women's side
Carissa Risucci broke an Alfred pool record with her first place finish in the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:28.01. Risucci also finished first in the 100 breast (1:08.95), and 200 IM with a time of 2:20.64.
Nazareth's
Maura Reissig also had a great day with two first place finishes. She was first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.01, the 200 backstroke in 2:23.13. Risucci and Reissig were also members of the first place 200 yard medley relay team along with
Kristen Vitale and
Emily Sauter (1:56.82).
Other first place finishers for the Golden Flyer women were,
Kimberly Pedrotti in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:20.70), Sauter in the 100 freestyle (:56.36), and
Kenna Murphy in the 500 freestyle (5:41.81).
The swimming & diving teams are back in action on October 27 at 1 p.m. when they travel to St. Lawrence for a dual meet.
