ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior
Adam Landry won the decisive singles match Wednesday against RIT as the host Golden Flyers edged the Tigers, 5-4, in an Empire 8 Conference men's tennis match.
Nazareth improved to 5-6 overall and 3-0 in conference matches. RIT is 2-4 overall and 1-1 in Empire 8 matches.
Nazareth dropped all three doubles matches, but rallied to win five of the six singles contests. Landry's match at second singles was the closest as he needed three sets to defeat RIT's Will Abisalih 7-6(7-1), 2-6, 6-1. Freshman
Josh Mulligan also won a close match at fourth singles as he held off RIT's Adam Wolf 6-4, 6-4.
Nazareth also got straight set wins from
Ryan McCormick at first singles,
Jeremy Mancus at fifth singles and
Bret Beaver at sixth singles.
Nazareth is home again Saturday and Sunday for Empire 8 Conference matches against Ithaca and Elmira respectively. Both matches start at 1 p.m.
