ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting St. John Fisher used a 22-7 scoring run over the first 10 minutes of the second half Tuesday to erase a four-point halftime deficit as the Cardinals defeated Nazareth in men's basketball, 64-58, at the Kidera Gymnasium.

The game was the final regular-season home game for the Golden Flyers, who dropped to 15-9 overall and 10-5 in Empire 8 Conference games. Fisher, which has already clinched the regular-season conference title and the top seed for next week's E8 Tournament, improved to 14-1 in the E8 and 20-4 overall.

Nazareth shot just 38.5 percent for the game (20 for 52), including 30.8 percent (8 for 26) in the second half as Fisher rallied. The Cardinals, meanwhile, made 58.3 percent of their second-half shots (14 for 24) and 56 percent for the game (28 for 50).

Freshman Tyshun Stephens scored 11 of his 14 points for Nazareth in the first half as the Golden Flyers led by as many as 11 points. A basket by Jake Fladd with 2:15 left in the half made the score 33-22, before Fisher scored the final seven points of the half -- all by Connor Henderson -- to close within 33-29 at the break.

Senior Corey McAdam scored the first basket of the second half, then the Cardinals embarked on a 13-1 scoring run to take the lead for good, 42-36, with 13:27 left. The lead continued to grow and topped out at 11 points, 51-40, following a basket by Jordan Gettings with 10:14 to go.

Nazareth closed to within five twice, the last time coming with 1:31 left on a free throw by Fladd to make the score 60-55. Fisher sealed the win with four free throws by Matt Newman in the final minute.

McAdam, playing in his final home game, shot just 5 for 17 from the field for the Golden Flyers, but still finished with a game-high 16 points. He added five assists and four steals. Gettings led Fisher with 14. Newman had 11 and Michael Wopperer added 10.

Fisher also had a sizable 40-22 rebounding advantage with Newman grabbing seven.

Nazareth closes out its regular-season schedule Sunday at Alfred at 2 p.m. The Golden Flyers have clinched a spot in the Empire 8 playoffs, which will be hosted by Fisher Feb. 26-27.
