ROCHESTER, NY (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Basketball earned three D3Hoops.com Third Team All-Region honors, the organization announced Monday morning.
Molly Benetti and
Katie MacLachlan represented Nazareth on the women's side while
Jaylen Savage grabbed the lone distinction for the men's team.
A three-time Empire 8 All-Conference selection, Benetti notched her best offensive season yet, averaging 14.2 points per game, ranking seventh in the conference on 46 percent shooting. She also added a career high 2.9 assists per game for ninth overall and posted an impressive assist to turnover ratio of 1.3. Defensively, she was a factor on the glass, picking up 6.1 rebounds per game and recording 2.3 blocks per game for second in the Empire 8. Benetti also scored a career-high 27 point performance vs Rensselaer.
Another three-time Empire 8 All-Conference selection, MacLachlan averaged 13.0 points per game, ranking 11th in the Empire 8 and established herself as one of the league's top shooters. She also picked up a team-best 3.4 assists per game for fifth in the conference. Defensively, MacLachlan remained a steady presence, averaging 0.5 blocks and 1.9 steals per game.
Savage earns his second-straight All-Region nod he averaged 17.5 points per game, ranking fifth in the Empire 8. A four-time Empire 8 All-Conference selection, Savage posted career‑high 48 percent field-goal percentage, shot 85 percent from the free‑throw line and added a career‑best 2.7 assists per game. Additionally, Savage led the Empire 8 in minutes played, averaging 34.3 per game. He reached double figures in every contest this season, highlighted by a season‑high 27 points against Keuka and Marywood.
