ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth resumed its track and field season Saturday with an indoor competition at RIT's Gordon Field House. No team scoring was kept, but the Golden Flyers had several strong performances.
In the men's competition, senior
Robby Castor finished second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:38.75. He was edged out at the tape by RIT's John Holleran, who won the race in 2:38.18. Castor also finished 16th in the 1-mile run with a time of 4:40.68.
Sophomore
Dan Polino placed eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.48 meters (40 feet, 11 /2 inches); junior
Matt Morales was 11th in the 5,000-meter run (17:28.22).
Dave Patalano and
Tim Rutan also competed in the 1,000-meter run and finished 10th and 13th respectively with times of 2:47.43 and 2:51.70.
In the women's competition, junior
Kristi Custer was the top place finisher as she went fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.24 meters (33 feet, 7 1/4 inches). She was less than three inches shy of her own school record.
Freshman
Patrice Jacobus placed ninth in the 500-meter run (1:34.60), while sophomore
Evelyn DeSantis was 16th in the 800-meter run (2:39.78).
Nazareth had several competitors in the 1-mile run with senior
Caitlyn Parmelee setting the pace with a 15th-place finish in 5:51.86. Freshman
Lauren Jamieson was close behind in 16th place (5:56.80).
In the 5,000-meter run, freshman
Kelsey Ryan finished 14th in 20:54.07.
