ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Freshman Sarah Eichelberger tallied the game-winning goal with 2:14 left in the first overtime period Saturday to lift host Nazareth to a 2-1 women's soccer victory over Oswego at Golden Flyer Stadium.

The non-conference victory enabled Nazareth to stay unbeaten in its last five games (4-0-1) and improved the Golden Flyers' record to 5-2-1 overall. Oswego dropped to 4-4.

Eichelberger's goal was her third of the season and came off a shot from the right wing after she settled a pass from teammate Erica Conte. Eichelberger also scored a pair of second-half goals in Wednesday's 3-0 win over St. John Fisher.

Although Nazareth dominated the game statistically with a 31-9 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks, it looked like the Golden Flyers might come up dry in the scoring column after they fell behind 1-0 on a first-half goal by Oswego's Rachel Allen.

Nazareth had 17 shots in the second half, but didn't score until the 75th minute when sophomore Deborah Towle blasted a free kick from about 25 yards away into the upper left corner of the goal, just over the outstretched hands of Oswego keeper Christina Fregosi. It was Towle's first career goal.

Nazareth had several chances to take the lead thereafter, including a shot off the cross bar by Rachel Piemonte in the 78th minute. Freshman Chelsea Kuss shot wide on a semi-break in the 84th minute and had another shot saved by Fregosi with less than 40 seconds to play in regulation.

Nazareth had five shots in overtime, but couldn't find the mark until Eichelberger came through after subbing into the game four minutes earlier.

Senior goalie Polly Muehlenkamp received credit for the victory for Nazareth as she made five saves after taking over for starter Hillary Simon in the second half. Fregosi finished with 11 saves for Oswego.

Nazareth returns to action Saturday at St. Lawrence at 2 p.m.
