BUFFALO, NY (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Women's Volleyball (2-7) fell to Buffalo State (4-6), 3-0, Tuesday night inside the Sports Arena. The Golden Flyers dropped the first two sets, 25-14 and 25-6, before pushing the Bengals to extra points in a 26-24 third set.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Hailey Trank opened the match with a service ace to give Nazareth an early 1-0 lead, but Buffalo State responded with six straight points. The Golden Flyers later put together a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 10-6, highlighted by a Macy Quibell kill, before Buffalo State pulled away for a 25-14 first-set win.
- Nazareth took a 3-1 advantage in the second set behind an Alana Lucey kill and Sloane Bell service ace. Buffalo State answered with an 8-0 run to move ahead 9-3 and eventually closed the set with 11 consecutive points to take it, 25-6.
- The Golden Flyers battled back in the third after falling behind 5-0. Nazareth scored five straight points to tie the set at 5-5 and later took a 7-6 lead. Buffalo State eventually moved ahead 24-21, but Nazareth responded with three consecutive points, including a Quibell kill and block, to tie the set at 24-24. Buffalo State scored the final two points to escape with the 26-24 win and complete the sweep.
GAME NOTES:
- Macy Quibell led the Golden Flyers with seven kills on 11 attempts for a .545 hitting percentage. She also recorded three solo blocks and finished with a team-high 10 points.
- Alana Lucey added four kills, two block assists and a service ace, finishing with six points.
- Hailey Trank paced Nazareth with 11 assists while adding three digs and one service ace.
- Sloane Bell recorded a team-high two service aces, while Nazareth finished with five total blocks.

Nazareth travels to Montclair, NJ for two matches Saturday, Sept. 26. The Golden Flyers face Montclair State at 10 a.m. before taking on Misericordia at noon.
