ROCHESTER, NY - After the conclusion of the Empire 8 Winter season, Nazareth jumped up one spot, to third place, in the Commissioner's Cup Standings after earning 43.50 points in the winter. In total, Nazareth has collected 96.25 points out of a possible 142 possible points through the fall and winter seasons, resulting in a 0.678 points percentage. This places them behind first place SUNY Geneseo and second place SUNY Brockport.
Commissioner's Cup points are determined by each team's placement in the Empire 8 standings at the conclusion of both the regular season and postseason. The scale varies based on the number of schools sponsoring the sport, with affiliate members excluded. A team's regular season finish will be added to its post-season finish and divided by two for the final total for that sport.
Although Nazareth didn't claim an Empire 8 title in the winter, runner-up honors in women's indoor track and field and the regular season title for both women's basketball and women's hockey helped them jump over St. John Fisher.
Geneseo holds onto the top spot after claiming Championships in men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's swimming and diving, and women's basketball.
