Nazareth Sits Fourth in Commissioner's Cup Standings

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) - Following the conclusion of the Empire 8 fall athletics schedule, Nazareth ranks fourth among 12 schools in the Commissioner's Cup standings. Nazareth collected 52.75 points out of a possible 80, which was good for a .659 point percentage. This sits behind first place SUNY Geneseo, second place St. John Fisher, and third place SUNY Brockport.

Commissioner's Cup points are determined by each team's placement in the Empire 8 standings at the conclusion of both the regular season and postseason. The scale varies based on the number of schools sponsoring the sport, with affiliate members excluded. A team's regular season finish will be added to its post-season finish and divided by two for the final total for that sport.

Geneseo secured the top spot by winning titles in men's and women's cross country, field hockey, and men's soccer, along with a runner-up finish in women's tennis.

Despite sitting in fourth place, Nazareth was unable to claim an Empire 8 title in the fall. Their best finishes came in field hockey, who fell in the championship game to Geneseo, and women's golf, who took home second place at the Empire 8 Invitational. Women's tennis also had a successful season as they finished third in the regular season standings and would go onto lose in the semifinals.
