Women's Hoops Secures E8 Regular Season Title With Victory Over Elmira

ROCHESTER, NY (nazathletics.com) – The Nazareth women's basketball squad (20-4 overall, 14-1 Empire 8) trounced Elmira (11-13, 6-9), 84-56 on Saturday, securing the Empire 8 regular season title and the top seed for next week's Empire 8 Championships. Nazareth has now won 12-straight games and secured its third-straight 20-win season with the regular season finale coming on Tuesday at St. John Fisher.

How it Happened:

  • Payton Littlefield comes in hot off the bench and hit her first 3-point shot.
  • Nazareth continued to play very strong defense, leading to good baskets on offense with some great shots from Molly Benetti and Littlefield – it was a 43-28 lead at the end of the half.
  • After an Elmira timeout, Tessa Schuey gots a steal and tossed it up to Leah Fusilli for a hard drive and layup for two. Fusilli then gets an offensive rebound on the next play and took it to the rim for two more points.
  • Nazareth led by 17 at the end of the 3rd quarter, 59-42.
