Box Score Oneonta, NY - The Nazareth Women's Basketball (13-4 overall, 7-1 Empire 8) team finished their weekend on the road with a 76-56 win over the Hartwick College Hawks (4-13, 1-7) in an Empire 8 Conference matchup Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flyers have won 6 out of their last 8 meetings since returning from the holiday break.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nazareth came out with a hot start to begin the contest. The Golden Flyers jumped on the Hawks early to get some separation in the early going of the game. The Nazareth defense stood tall as well, not giving Hartwick any room as Naz collected 14 rebounds. Nazareth shot 58 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range to head in the 2nd quarter with a 21-13 lead.
- Hartwick came out strong to start the 2nd quarter, but the Golden Flyers weathered the storm to keep their lead heading into the second half. The Golden Flyers outscored the Hawks 16-15 in the 2nd quarter to take a 37-28 lead.
- The Hawks began the second half looking to stall a hot Nazareth offense. The Golden Flyers however continued to create offense and keep possession off of rebounds and steals. The Golden Flyers led 60-38 lead after three.
- Nazareth entered the final frame looking to keep its momentum and not let the Hawks get any breathing room. Hartwick would press back on Nazareth, scoring 18 points in the quarter, however it wouldn't be enough as Nazareth kept pace offensively with some crisp ball movement around the paint. Nazareth finished with 25 assists in the game, continuing to be one of the top teams in the Empire 8 in assists.

- Nazareth shot 33-66 from the field, 5-16 from 3-point range, and 5-7 from the line.
- The Golden Flyers collected 39 rebounds, 25 assists, 11 blocks and 11 steals.
- Molly Benetti led the charge for the Golden Flyers collecting 14 points.
- Katie MacLachlan would pick up 12 points. She remains 10 away from her 1,000th career NCAA point.
