Women's Golf Opens Day 1 of NWGC Tournament

BLOOMFIELD, CT – Nazareth's women's golf team opened the first day of the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Tournament at Wintonbury Hill Golf Course on Saturday. The Golden Flyers have combined to shoot 208 (+49) as they are at holes 9-12 in the first round.

Freshman Bethany Wineburg leads the Golden Flyers with a 40 (+5) after nine holes, while graduate student Kayla Ringler is second on the team after she shot a 48 (+9) through 10 holes. Wineburg converted pars on holes five, six, seven, and eight. Ringler had a par on the opening hole and hole eight.

Junior Kara Kopyt shot a 60 (+14) after 12 holes. She had pars on seven and 11. Sophomore Sabrina Schultz shot a 60 (+21) after 10 holes, including a bogey on the first and fifth holes.

The Golden Flyers resume first round action on Sunday.
