ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Golden Flyers' men's track and field team competed at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational on Saturday and turned in several personal best performances.
Junior
Antonio Benitez and freshman
Yousef Mahmoud each recorded personal best times in the 1500-meter run. Benitez crossed the finish line 21st with a personal best time of 4:16.38. His previous best in the event was 4:17.68, which he recorded at Brockport in April 2024. Mahamoud placed 55th with a time of 4:39.93. His previous best in the event was 4:43.84, which he had last week at Brockport.
Additionally, Junior
Ryan DeShane recorded a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (17.19 seconds). Senior
Joey Nettles placed 11th in the 400-meter dash (52.27 seconds) and 20th in the 100-meter event (12.56 seconds).
Nazareth had five runners compete in the 800-meter run. Junior
Joseph Cataldo finished in 15th-place with a time of 2:02.09 to lead the Golden Flyers. Sophomore
Brennan Farr placed 26th (2:05.27), freshman
Thuan Nguyen was 28th (2:06.02), Benitez was 34th (2:10.93), and Mahamoud was 35th (2:13.72). Farr's time was a personal best; his previous best in the 800 was 2:06.36 at Brockport in 2024.
The Golden Flyers' relay team placed 7th in the 4x400 event. Freshman
Anthony Dumas joined Cataldo, Nguyen, and Farr to cross the line with a time of 3:38.95.
In field events, freshman
Dominic Wolff's performance in the hammer throw ranks him fifth on Nazareth's Top-10 list. Wolff recorded a mark of 43.42 meters (142' 5") to place 12th in the event. Freshman
Connor Rinas finished 22nd in the event with a throw of 38.46 meters (117' 8"); Rinas's 42.69-meter (140' 0") throw two weeks ago ranks sixth on the Golden Flyers' list. Sophomore
Benjamin Meyer takes the 10th spot on the Nazareth list with a throw of 35.87 meters (117' 8"), which placed him 27th overall.
Rinas and Meyer also competed in the discus throw. Rinas placed 17th with a throw of 34.96 meters (114' 8"), and Meyer was 21st with a throw of 33.97 meters (111' 5"). Meyer's throw exceeded his previous personal best of 31.78 meters (104' 3"), which he recorded earlier this month.
The freshmen trio of
Nathan Sinclair,
Will D'Agata, and
Nolan Armitage competed in the pole vault. Sinclair took seventh with a height of 4.17 meters (13' 8 ¼"). D'Agata and Armitage tied for eighth with a height of 4.02 meters (13' 2 ¼"). In the high jump, junior
Jason Marchincin was seventh with a height of 1.71 meters (5' 7 ¼").
The Golden Flyers are in action again Saturday, April 26th, when they travel to St. John Fisher for the Cardinal Classic.
