ROCHESTER, NY – A chance to avenge a loss to Penn State Behrend in the fall came up just short for the men's tennis team on Tuesday night as it fell 4-3 at the Golisano Training Center.
Nazareth is now 8-6 overall and Penn State Behrend is 10-8.
The Golden Flyers lost out on the doubles point as the Lions took two of three matches.
Pierre Ntonga and
David Tuller won third doubles by a 6-1 score.
Max Funiciello broke up a 3-3 tie in the first set and won three-straight games to take the opening set 6-3. He then won the second set 6-2 to take the second singles match.
After dropping the opening set 6-1,
Noah Britton came back to win the next wo sets 6-3, 6-0 to win fourth singles.
Chris Benedict cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles.
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday, traveling to Oswego for a 1 pm conference match.
