ROCHESTER, NY - Men's tennis defeated Alfred University on Saturday afternoon in an 8-1 win. The Golden Flyers now sit at an overall record of 5-5 and a conference record of 1-0, while Alfred drops to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Golden Flyers swept doubles with three victories.
Max Funiciello and
Griffin Bond won their match 8-2, while the pairs of
Chris Benedict with
Noah Britton and
Enoch Li with
Pierre Ntonga each won 8-3.
Bond saw a loss in singles, going down 6-3, 6-4.
Funiciello, Britton, and Benedict won their singles matches convincingly, Funicello going 6-0 and 6-2, Britton winning 6-0 and 6-1, and Benedict going 6-3 and 6-0.
Ntonga and Li had closer matches, Ntonga winning 7-6 (9-7) and 6-0, and Li going 6-4 and 7-6 (7-4).
The Golden Flyers will be back in action on April 2 at 4 p.m. as Nazareth hosts Oswego State.
