ROCHESTER, NY – On a frigid Saturday afternoon, Nazareth scored 13-first half goals on the way to a 18-9 route of Clarkson University. Junior Mattew Farrington led the way with six points (3G, 3A), while
Quinn McKercher (4G, 1A) and
Hayden Lucas (2G, 3A) each tallied five points. Lucas' five points was a career-high.
Nazareth gets back to .500 at 2-2, while Clarkson drops to 1-2.
It was a phenomenal start for the Golden Flyers aided by five-straight face-off wins for
Jakob Denkenberger to open the game. He finished 24-for-30 from the X with 14 ground balls. Nazareth scored the first five goals of the game, beginning with Lucas and followed by McKercher,
Alex Garrow,
Owen Riley, and
William Meagher. Meagher finished with one goal and three assists.
It was 7-2 after the first quarter and 13-4 at the half.
Louis Cogliandro and McKercher had two goals in the quarter, along with Farrington and Lucas.
The third quarter was the lowest scoring of the game, with Farrington netting one, along with two from
Owen Riley. Riley had three goals in the game.
Farrinton scored his final goal in the fourth and
William O'Neill scored Nazareth's 18
th and final goal with 5:59 to play.
McLean Ralston had 14 saves in the net.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Ithaca at 4 p.m.
