ROCHESTER, NY - The Nazareth women's field hockey team dominated St. John Fisher with a 3-0 shutout victory on Wednesday evening at Growney Stadium.
With the win, the Golden Flyers improve to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in Empire 8 play, while the Cardinals fall to 7-7 and 5-3, respectively.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Nazareth wasted no time getting on the board as freshman Juliana Dimao scored her first collegiate goal. She found the back of the cage just 2:52 into the contest to give the Golden Flyers a quick 1-0 lead.
The offensive momentum carried into the second quarter, where sophomore Michaela Cushman doubled the advantage at 21:22 with a clean finish off a well-placed setup.
Just three minutes, Cushman struck again, netting her second goal of the evening at 24:45 to make it 3-0. The Golden Flyers maintained control for the remainder of the match, holding the Cardinals scoreless through all four quarters.
Nazareth's defense limited St. John Fisher to just seven total shots and two penalty corners. Goalkeeper Lauren Bachner registered five saves to earn the shutout.
