AURORA, IL – After a thrilling five set victory over North Park to open the day, the Nazareth men's volleyball team fell to host, and #19 Aurora in four sets on Friday night.
The Golden Flyers are now 5-4 overall.
Nazareth defeats North Park in 5 sets (25-14, 25-12, 17-25, 23-25, 15-10)
After winning the first two sets by a combined 50-26, Nazareth slipped up in the third and fourth sets.
In the deciding set, Nazareth jumped up to a 6-0 lead and never looked back.
Owen Wickens hit .325 with 19 kills. He notched a double-double with 10 digs.
Alex Bertino also had double-digit kills with 10 and also had a double-double with 11 digs.
Stuver was also good for a double-double after dishing out 39 assists and 10 digs. He also had four block assists.
Bodey Groff paced the Golden Flyer defense with 17 digs.
Andrew Bodensteiner notched eight kills and two block assists.
Nazareth falls in four sets to Aurora (25-21, 21-25, 25-19, 25-14)
Aurora's defense played well throughout, finishing with 22 block assists.
For the match, Nazareth hit .158 with 43 kills on 114 attacks with 25 errors. Meanwhile the Spartans hit .354 with 49 kills on 99 attempts with 14 attack errors.
Weaver put down 13 kills, while Wickens had 10 and five digs.
Ryan Murphy was credited with eight kills on a .438 attack percentage with three block assists.
AJ Burda had 29 assists.
Nazareth takes on Cal Lutheran at North Central at 6 p.m. (ET) on Saturday.
