SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Nazareth women's volleyball squad dropped a pair of four-set matches on Saturday to Connecticut College and SUNY Oneonta at the Skidmore Invitational.
Zoe Tylipakis led the Golden Flyers in kills for each of the matches.
Nazareth is now 2-4 overall and will travel to Buffalo State on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. contest.
Connecticut College defeats 3-1 Nazareth 16-25, 25-20, 25-13, 25-20
The Golden Flyers had great start to the match, cruising to the opening set 25-16 after swinging .303 on 33 attempts with 14 kills and just four errors. Tylipakis tied a career-high with 14 kills in the match to lead the way, while also collecting 10 digs.
In the second set, Nazareth led 10-6 following a service ace from
Hailey Trank. Connecticut got things going at the end of the set to even the sets at 1-1.
Nazareth was unable to climb out of a 10-2 hole in the third.
Following a
Ruth Jackson kill in the fourth, Nazareth and Connecticut were tied at 20-20, but the Camels scored the final five points to close out the game. Jackson finished with 12 kills on a .296 hitting percentage and led the way with three service aces.
Jenna Mattison had 12 digs, while
Leah Fusilli added nine digs.
Oneonta defeats Nazareth 3-1 at 25-18, 25-15, 15-25, 25-19
A strong swinging Oneonta squad (.346) with 47 kills on 104 attempts made it difficult for the Golden Flyers squad. Nazareth struggled in the match, finishing with just a .066 attack percentage with 42 kills on 137 attempts.
Tylipakis once again led Nazareth in kills with 12, while also having nine digs. Fusilli also had 12 kills and a team-high 15 digs.
Jackson had a strong attack percentage (.333) with nine kills
Ellla Kules had 33 assists.
