Nazareth Women's Volleyball Leaves No Doubt in First Game of the Skidmore Tournament

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Golden Flyers (2-2) started off the Skidmore tournament strong with a 3-set win over Plattsburgh (0-4). Senior Ella Kules led Nazareth's defense with 10 digs, while also contributing 18 assists in the win.

Nazareth won by scores of 25-15, 25-13, and 25-19. In the first set, Nazareth had a commanding win from the get-go, jumping out to an early 8-2 lead, and for the rest of the set held a lead of at least three. In the second set, Nazareth went on a seven-point run when the score was 5-5, taking full control over the match. In the third set, Nazareth got out on a late start, allowing Plattsburgh to hold the lead until they had 13 points. Fortunately, the Golden Flyers went on three three-point runs late in the game to win the set for Nazareth.

Though Kules led the Golden Flyers' defense, on the offensive end Junior Leah Fusilli led the charge with seven kills and two aces, while also contributing five digs. Zoe Tylipakis and Alana Lucey each had six kills and one block. Ruth Jackson contributed across the board with three aces, one block, and two assists, while teammate Jenna Mattison also had a well-rounded game with three aces, four assists, and six digs.
 
The Golden Flyers will face Connecticut College tomorrow, September 7th in hopes of finishing the Skidmore tournament 2-0.
