Nazareth Falls to RIT in Three 25-20 Sets

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The women's volleyball team fell to RIT in a tough 3-set loss (25-20 each set) today at home.

The Golden Flyers are now 3-8 overall on the season, and have yet to play in a conference competition.

In the first set, RIT jumped out to an early lead of 10-2 that Nazareth was never quite able to recover from, despite a six-point run in the middle of the set.

The second set was more of a back-and-forth battle with multiple lead changes. The Golden Flyers were within only three points at 23-20, but could not convert in the following two volleys, and they dropped the set 25-20.

In the third set, the Tigers held a strong lead late in the game at 22-13. Despite a four-point run, the Golden Flyers were not able to recover from this deficit and dropped the third set with another score of 25-20.

Tessa Grover came back to the court today swinging, leading the team with 11 kills, while also adding three blocks, and 16 assists. Leah Fusilli tacked on eight kills and six digs, while teammate Ruth Jackson added seven kills. Ella Kules contributed 11 assists and seven digs. Jenna Mattison added nine digs to the mix and Alana Lucey led the on-the-net defense with four blocks.

The Golden Flyers will return to the court Saturday, September 28th, as they host a tri-match with Johnson & Wales and Canton at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
