Box Score ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth men's soccer team scored five goals in the second half, including two from
Jake Pawlika and
Spencer Neil, to open Empire 8 play with a 5-0 win over Hartwick.
Nazareth is now 4-1-1 overall and 1-0 in E8 play, while the Hawks drop to 2-4-1 and 0-2, respectively.
The Golden Flyers scored four goals in a 15-minute span to break the game open.
Drew Decker took a throw-in inside the box, passed it off to
Michael Yates for a one-time pass to Neil on the far post for a goal.
Shortly after, Nazareth had a strong 1-2 combination between
Braden Callahan and Neil, before Decker snuck behind the defense to make the score 2-0.
Pawlika got in on the scoring off a free kick from midfield in the 57
th minute.
Ryan Fitzgerald drove a ball that
Iskander Kosoko headed forward to Pawlika for a shot into the net, making it 3-0.
Pawlika added a tap-in goal six minutes later for his sixth goal of the season and 36
th of his career.
Neil was able to his team and conference-leading eighth goal of the season in the 82
nd minute on an assist from
Sam Romanosky. He is among the leaders in the nation in goals per game at 1.33 per game.
Logan Menna made three saves in 60:04 of play, while
Liam Brandt made two saves in 29:56.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Alfred for a 4 p.m. conference matchup.
