Tyler Warmington,
Braden Callahan,
Joey Weaver,
Zach Scott, and
Jack Lannon on Saturday afternoon at Golden Flyer Stadium. Utica's first half goal ended up being enough to squeeze out a 1-0 win over Nazareth, dropping the Golden Flyers to 7-4-1 overall and 5-3-1 in Empire 8 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first great opportunity of the game for Nazareth came off the foot of Tyler Warmington. He fired a shot from just outside the 18-yard box that was punched over the crossbar by the Utica goalkeeper to keep the game scoreless.
- Just three minutes later, Utica would strike first to take a 1-0 lead. A foul in the box by Bryan Tirado led to a penalty kick for Utica where they capitalized.
- In the 27th minute, the Golden Flyers had an excellent chance to tie the game. Braden Callahan sent in a shot heading to the bottom right corner, but Utica's goalkeeper made a diving save to preserve the one-goal lead.
- Nazareth controlled possession for most of the first half but were unable to solve Utica, as they trailed 1-0 after 45 minutes. The Golden Flyers led in shots 9-5.
- The second half was quite similar to the first, as Nazareth controlled possession for the majority of the time, but the Pioneers were strong defensively, not allowing many quality chances.
- The Golden Flyers pushed hard to find the equalizer in the final 15 minutes of action, but Utica would hold on for a 1-0 win. Nazareth outshot Utica 21-8.
