BOSTON, MA- The Nazareth women's volleyball squad picked up its first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Simmons in four sets, before falling in three sets to Manhattanville in its second game of the day at the Emerson Tournament.

3-1 win vs Simmons (25-19,, 22-25, 25-18, 25-18)
Senior
Tessa Grover had 16 kills, 21 assists, five blocks, and four aces to lead the Nazareth to a 3-1 victory over Simmons to open day two. The Golden Flyers won the first set 25-19, but dropped the second set 22-25. Nazareth came back to take the next two sets with scores of 25-18.
Junior
Leah Fusilli added 12 kills and eight digs, while teammate
Zoe Tylipakis earned seven kills, three assists, eight digs, and two aces. Senior
Ella Kules contributed 14 assists, six digs, and three aces, while freshman
Alana Lucey had four blocks, and junior
Zipporah Sparkman had three.
3-0 loss vs Manhattanville (25-19, 25-22, 25-22)
Nazareth's second game of the day proved to be a tall task, falling in three sets 25-19, 25-22, 25-22.
Against Manhattanville, Tylipakis and Kules led the efforts; Tylipakis with with 11 kills, six digs, and three aces, and Kules with 17 assists and nine digs. Fusilli and Grover also racked up some stats, Fusilli with nine kills, two blocks, and three aces, and Grover with nine assists, six digs, and three aces. Freshman
Alana Lucey also contributed with four kills and three blocks.
The Golden Flyers will head to Saratoga Springs from September 6-7 to play Plattsburgh, Connecticut College, and Oneonta at the Skidmore Tournament.
