CORTLAND, NY – Sophomore
Jack Pomykaj broke his own school record in the decathlon at the AARTFC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday with 6,005 points to finish in third place at SUNY Cortland. His previous best was 5,954 at the Empire 8 Championships. The Nazareth men finished in 17
thplace with 17 points total. Rowan University won the event with 115.5 points.
Pomykaj was in fourth place heading into the second day of the decathlon. He hit his 4.40 meter height (14' 5 ¼") on his second attempt to take first place in the pole vault. The Castleton, NY native was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.36) and also the discus throw at 28.40 meters (93' 2"). He closed out the decathlon with a third place finish in the 1,500 with a time of 4:56.64. Classmate
Aaron Lund moved up two spots to sixth place overall after collecting 5,391 points. He took second in the 1500 in a time of 4:54.20 and was fourth in the discus with a heave of 29.10 (95' 6").
Jaylen Savage competed in the 400 and took 25
th place with a time of 49.62.
