ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women's lacrosse team could not take down St. John Fisher on Saturday, falling 19-6.
Maggie Vay and
Liddie Hoare each scored for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth (3-2 Empire 8) is currently in a two-way tie for third place in the conference with Hartwick. The Hawks are the last Empire 8 opponent for the Golden Flyers.
St. John Fisher (5-0) clinched the number one seed for the Empire 8 Tournament with the win.
It was a close game in the game in the beginning with Vay and
Kate Metzler scoring early for the visitors. Metzlers's 38
th goal of the season, brought Nazareth to within 3-2 near the midway point of the first quarter.
Fisher, however, seized control of the game with five of the last six goals of the quarter to lead 8-3.
Makenna Misiurewicz scored the other goal for Nazareth. The Cardinals were aided by winning 23-of-28 draw controls.
Nazareth was held scoreless in the second and trailed 12-3 at the half.
Hoare scored her first of the day from
Julia Dietz to break the Golden Flyers scorless drought over five mintues into the third.
She added one more in the fourth quarter.
Allie Klestinec made 10 saves in the loss.
Nazareth will travel to Rochester on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. contest.
