ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Dylan Fairchild and senior Jacob Townsand each scored four times on the day to lead the Nazareth University Rugby team to four straight wins Saturday to claim the Golden Flyers 7's Tournament Championship on the Upper Field.
Nazareth won three preliminary matches with wins over RIT (19-0), Colgate (12-5) and LeMoyne (29-0). The victories advanced the Golden Flyers to the championship match and Nazareth posted a 27-0 win over the University at Buffalo to capture the tournament title.
Against RIT, Fairchild scored twice while sophomores Owen Barr and Dajour Holmes each scored a try.
Townsand scored his first try of the day against Colgate and sophomore Aiden Pavlek added the game-winning try to push Nazareth to 2-0 on the day.
A balanced attack against LeMoyne with five different players recording a try propelled the Golden Flyers to the championship match. Holmes, Pavlek, Townsand, Barr and sophomore Eitan Otero scored for Nazareth.
The tandem of Townsand and Fairchild added two more scores each in the Buffalo win as Holmes also scored for Nazareth.
