BROCKPORT, NY –
Kate Metzler recorded her second consecutive game with five goals and
Sophia Scialdone netted a career-high four goals to help visiting Nazareth defeat Brockport 16-13 on Saturday. The five goals for Metzler tied a career-high.
It was the Golden Flyers second consecutive win as they move to 2-3 on the year and Brockport drops to 1-3.
After Brockport scored the first goal of the game, Nazareth responded with the next five to take a 5-1 lead into the first break.
Metzler scored two of the goals, along with
Maggie Vay and
Julia Dietz.
Makenna Misiurewicz scored with just two seconds left in the quarter.
Nazareth led 8-5 at the half. Metzler, Scialdone, and
Liddie Hoare had goals in the quarter.
Metzler and Vay went back and forth scoring goals in the third and the Golden Flyers led 12-10 after three.
Scialdone came up huge in the fourth quarter, scoring three of her four goals in the game to help Nazareth keep some distance. With the lead just 13-12, the junior scored on the free position and then scored an unassisted goal with 5:23 remaining to make it 15-12.
Misiurewicz helped seal the win with her second of the day off an assist from Dietz.
Allie Klestinec earned her second win of the season with 11 saves in the win.
The Golden Flyers host Oswego at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
