ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth women's lacrosse team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, as a late comeback effort was stopped short in a 12-11 loss to Oswego State.
Sophia Scialdone (2 goals, 2 assists) and
Kate Metzler (3 goals, 1 assist) each recorded four points in the loss.
Nazareth falls to 2-4 with the loss and Oswego is now 4-2.
Trailing 10-5 in the third quarter, Nazareth rallied to score the next three, two in the third and one in the fourth to pull within 10-8. Metzler had two goals, including an extra-man goal, and
Liddie Hoare had the other goal.
Near the midway point of the fourth, Nazareth trailed 12-9.
Emily Paddock pulled Nazareth within two goals with seven minutes to play.
The score stayed that way until :34 seconds left on the clock and Scialdone scored on the man-up to pull within one.
Nazareth was unable to come up with the draw control and the Lakers ran out the clock.,
Makenna Misiurewicz had a pair of goals, along with
Emily Paddock.
Maggie Vay also had a tally for the Golden Flyers.
Allie Klestinec had eight saves in the losing effort.
Nazareth returns to action on Sunday, hosing Smith at 2 p.m.
