FREDONIA, NY – The Nazareth women's lacrosse team scored seven first quarter goals to help secure its first win of the season on Wednesday, 13-6 over Fredonia State. Graduate student
Kate Metzler tied a career-high five goals in the victory. It was head coach
Diana Schmitt's first carer win.
Nazareth moves to 1-3 on the season with the win, while Fredonia drops to 2-1.
After Fredonia scored the first of the game, the Golden Flyers dug in and scored the next six goals, beginning with
Makenna Misiurewicz.
Metzler scored the next two and added one to cap off the quarter to give Nazareth a 7-2 advantage.
Liddie Hoare and
Sophia Scialdone, who each had two goals in the game, along with
Maggie Vay (3 total goals) scored in the quarter.
Nazareth led 9-2 at the half.
The Blue Devils were able to come within 11-6 midway through the fourth quarter but Metzler helped seal the game with her fourth and fifth goals.
Sophomore goalie
Allie Klestinec played her first full game of the season on Wednesday, making a season-high 15 saves.
The Golden Flyers return to action on Saturday, traveling to Brockport for a 12 p.m. non-conference matchup.
