ITHACA, NY – The Nazareth University Softball team managed just one hit in the doubleheader against Ithaca College Tuesday in the first action for the Golden Flyers since returning from the Spring Training trip to Florida last week.
Nazareth (1-9) dropped the first game 8-0 in five innings and then fell 12-0 in five innings in the second game.
The lone hit on the day came off the bat of freshman Morgan Russo who led off the first inning of the second game with a double. A sacrifice bunt moved Russo to third but Ithaca (10-4) rebounded to retire the next two batters and Russo was stranded at third.
Ithaca scored four runs in the second and added an eight-run inning in the fourth for the Bombers scoring.
In game one, Ithaca scored a run in each of the first two innings and then doubled the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth. A four-run inning in the bottom of the fifth ended the game with the eight run lead.
Nazareth will host Brockport Friday in the 2024 home opener with a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. of Flyer Field.
