Top 100 Moment: 1997 Women's Soccer Defeats Oneonta For First NCAA Tournament Win

ROCHESTER, NY - The Nazareth women's soccer team delivered its first NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament win on November 5, 1997 when it defeated Oneonta State 3-2 in triple overtime at Nazareth. Polly Poweska netted the game-winning goal from Bree Perry in the 127th minute to propel the Golden Flyers to victory.

Nazareth's other goal scorers in the game were Perry and Michelle Urbanski. The Golden Flyers finished with a 26-15 edge in shots for the game and Erin Jacobs made five saves in net.

After defeating the Red Dragons, Nazareth went on to face the University of Rochester (at William Smith), where the Golden Flyers eventually fell, 3-2.
