Women’s Soccer Wins Big at Keuka, 4-0

KEUKA, NY (nazathletics.com) – The Nazareth women's soccer team (9-3-2, 7-2-1) spent their Wednesday night on the campus of the Keuka College Wolves (4-9-2, 0-8-2), where they took care of business and dominated their way to a 4-0 conference win. Sophomore Giuliana Rodriguez led the way for the Golden Flyers with 2 goals and 1 assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nazareth began applying the pressure early, taking 3 shots on goal in the opening 10 minutes and jumping out to an early 1-0 lead off the foot of Rodriguez at 12:24 of the opening half.
  • The two squads traded a handful of shots for the ensuing 10 minutes before entering an offensive stalemate, where the action stalled in mid-field and a flurry of throw-ins resulted in a slow-paced 20 minutes to end the 1st half.
  • Nazareth keeper Katriana Walls was perfect through 45 minutes entering the mid-way break, making 3 saves and preserving her team's lead.
  • Walls was tested again quickly to kick off the 2nd frame, making an early save and sending out a few goal kicks to help kick-start the offense for her team.
  • At 55:21, Savannah Bhieler found Giuliana Rodriguez who stayed hot, burying another goal to double the Golden Flyer lead to 2-0.
  • More throw-ins and a few fouls were traded until Nazareth continued to capitalize on their chances. At the 66-minute mark, Brynn Furbeck crossed one into the Keuka goal off of a defender to put her squad up 3-0.
  • Just 5 minutes later, Carolina Lott-Diamond scored the dagger assisted by Rodriguez. She found the bottom left corner of the goal and added to Nazareth's cushion in the closing minutes of the match
  • The Golden Flyers tied things down defensively and cruised to a conference victory, final score: 4-0 Nazareth.

MATCH NOTES
  • Rodriguez scored her 4th and 5th goals of the season, and now has 12 points
