ERIE, PA – Senior Owen Wickens had 22 kills and junior Josh Weaver added 20 more to lead the Nazareth University Men's Volleyball team to a pair of 3-0 sweeps in a tri-match with Penn State Behrend and Geneva Saturday afternoon.
Nazareth (17-8) ranked No. 17 in the latest AVCA national poll, downed Geneva by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-16 and then beat Penn State Behrend in three with set scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 27-25.
Against Geneva, Wickens led the offense with 13 kills and a .455 attack percentage and two aces while Weaver chipped in six kills and sophomore Anthony Caimano added seven kills to pace the offense. Junior Max Stuver had 31 assists and seven digs.
In the Penn State Behrend match, Weaver led Nazareth with 14 kills, Stuver chipped in 10 digs and 28 assists while Wickens recorded nine kills, six digs and a pair of aces. Graduate student Jonathon Jackson had seven digs.
Nazareth is back in action in two weeks with the final home match of the season and Senior Day when the Golden Flyers host MIT in a United Collegiate Volleyball (UVC) match in Kidera Gym at 1 p.m. March 30.
