ELMIRA, NY – The 17
th-ranked Nazareth men's volleyball squad picked up a much-needed UVC win on Wednesday night, defeating Elmira in three sets, 25-20, 25-14, 25-20.
The Golden Flyers picked up their first UVC win and are now 15-7 overall and 1-3 in UVC play. Elmira falls to 7-10 and 1-4, respectively.
In the second, Nazareth led 10-9 before taking control. The Golden Flyers held Elmira to just four five points the rest of the set to cruise to a 25-14 win.
The third set saw Nazareth break free of a 17-17 tie by scoring four-straight points including and
Owen Wickens kill. He finished with had eight kills and five digs in the match.
Josh Weaver also had eight kills and four digs.
Andrew Bodensteiner was good for seven kills and five block assists.
Max Stuver had 27 assists in the match and Jonathan Jackson led the Golden Flyers with nine digs.
Nazareth returns to the court on Friday, traveling to Penn State Behrend for a pair of matches.
