ROCHESTER, NY – Seventh-ranked St. John Fisher made hitting difficult all night for 13
th-ranked Nazareth, as the Golden Flyers fell in four sets to open UVC conference play, 16-25, 25-22, 17-25, 12-25.
Nazareth had just 33 kills in the match compared to 49 for the visitors.
Alex Bertino led the way with 10 kills.
The Golden Flyers, losers of three of their last four, are now 11-3 overall and 0-1 in UVC play, while Fisher moves to 15-1 and 1-0.
Fisher's blocking was ready to go in the opening set as it got six points from it. The Cardinals jumped out to an 18-7 lead and never looked back. For the match, Fisher had 12 blocks compared to just three for Nazareth.

Josh Weaver gave the Golden Flyers a 13-9 in the second. The Cardinals, however, rallied to score nine of the next 13 points to take an 18-17 lead.
With the score 19-19, Nazareth scored the next two points and was able to close out the set on a Bodensteiner kill, 25-22.
The third set belonged to Fisher as it hit .520 with 15 kills on 25 attempts and two errors.
Nazareth was unable to get things going in the fourth, hitting -.069.
Owen Wickens had seven kills on the day.
Josh Weaver led with nine digs and Aj Burda had 24 assists.
Nazareth returns to action on Friday, hosting Elizabethtown at 7 p.m.
