ROCHESTER, NY - Senior midfielder Terry Goetz scored just 14 seconds into sudden death overtime to lift Nazareth to the 1996 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Division III National Championship against Washington College.
The Golden Flyers finished the season 15-0, the lone perfect season in program history.
Brent Rothfuss scored three times in the first quarter. Goetz and Neal Powless each went for two goals and one assist. Goaltender Ben Wineburg made 13 saves in the net.
Nazareth had 10 all-americans that year, including Wineburg being named the Player of the Year and Rothfuss the Midfielder of the Year.
